About the event
Join us for Rooted in the Soil: Birds of Paradise, a unique farm-to-table dinner experience on July 26 from 6–9 PM at Gnarled Oak Farm, a regenerative livestock farm in Hernando, MS. Curated by Chefs Halima Salazar and Dria Price, this evening celebrates the deep culinary and cultural roots of poultry in West African cuisine and its powerful influence on Southern food traditions. Enjoy a thoughtfully designed meal featuring pasture-raised chicken from the farm, while engaging in conversation about bird domestication, the value of whole-animal cooking, and the legacy of African foodways across the globe. Proceeds support Farming Foodways, a nonprofit dedicated to training and empowering the next generation of BIPOC farmers and food innovators through equitable and hands-on education. Come hungry—leave inspired.
